Death is always the result, when words insights and fan the flames of violence. The republican / tea- parties words and insightment of violence has cost the life of a congress person. The United States justice department should investigate and label both orginizations, the republican party and the tea-party, same as they would for any other home grown terrorist orginization such as the klu klux klan. The tea-party motive and goals, from there growing actions appears to be much larger than this action. These nut cases, are so backwards and stupid it's hurts to view these idiots. The republicans and tea-party is all one group, branched out to bring fear, pressure and violence to american politics. There win at all cost could be the demise of their political party. We need to vote, each and every one of the republican & tea-party members out of office in the upcoming general elections. We can do much better than this, can't we?

Nonsense. The fringes of the left (from where yesterday's mass murdering lunatic seems to have come from) are just as unacceptable as the fringes of the right. I'm personally sick of the jabbering of BOTH !!!

Hold on there Rodney!

First of all let me clarify that my politics are pretty much weighted to the left of center. That being said, I want you to know I take extreme exception to the careless and sloppy method used in your hastily posted, inaccurate, mini- article.

In the first place, you posted your comments almost 12 hours after the tragic event, yet you still obviously had not followed up on the facts contained in the copious news reports about what happened.

As we all now know, the Congresswoman did survive the gunshot. By 2:06 PM (EST) I had posted; 3rd UPDATE!!: Congresswoman Gifford Seriously Wounded and in Surgery from Tucson, AZ Shooting! in comment #4 in the thread for that article, I reported that at 2:58 PM, a hospital spokesperson confirmed Rep. Gifford was in surgery, and was expected to survive. I posted that report 4 minutes later at 3:02 PM.

So, Rodney, how is it that at 1:07AM Sunday, 10 hours later, you posted a comment that a Congressperson has died?

More important than that, why is it you were so quick to blame this event on the Republicans, the Tea Party and the Klu Klux Clan? Don't you realize that by doing that you are acting exactly like the Right Wing Fringnuts, who regularly blast out blame without thinking?!

The fact of the matter are that this whacko was an avowed left Winger, he had worked for Gifford, and he is a regular contributor to the DAILY KOS. The landmark of Left Wingnut rantings.

btw, regarding your statement "The tea-party motive and goals, from there growing actions appears to be much larger than this action." in addition to being inaccurate in context and meaning, "there" as used in this sentence is spelled "their".

Also, it's common practice to capitalize American, even when it is being used in the term "American politics".

While I disgree with putting them on a homegrown terrorist list, they have done more than enough fanning of the flames to cause some of the violence going on.

Jerry, since he adored Hitler I would say that hate was a clear motivation...one thing I didn´t know was that Giffords is Jewish.

Rodney, my oops. At first I thought you were going to impune the "rev Al Sharpton" for being responsible for the killing of 2 jews and torching their store in new york. Then I realized, WAIT, sharpton is black and 'they' were jews. His inflammatory rhetoric that started the riot must, then, be O.K. Don't you agree?

How can you equate nosensical violence from someone who is clearly menatally deranged and lists the books of Hitler and communists as is favorites to the Tea Party movement. There are many Democrates that are members of this movement and are tired of the socialization of the country too. Seems to me with the profile of this shooter becoming public you are two of the same party, he chose to act on his rage, you just continue to spread your own brand of racism and hate.

The tea-party & the republican party needs to be placed on the government terrorist watch list. It's clear that there motive is to place fear in the americans. But make no mistake, we are and will never be in fear of racist, wicked, dumb, backward leaning fools.

Don't try to blame Democrats for spreading hate. That is a definition from the "Republican Party and Tea Baggers." The only message that comes out of their mouth is let's get them, Obama was portrayed as communist and terrorist before he got elected, lies and lies to incite fear...shame on GOPs to start all this...Don't get confused with the parties...

What makes a gunman clearly a mental case, well he does not have the ability to be a rational thinker. This gunman engineer, planned and executed his attack. Aside from all of that, he sent out a warning through U-tube video's, prior. Well lets see, mental or not...NOT!

Idiotic is when the republican party and the tea-party work in concert to plant the seed of hate into the mines of there members, using misleading statements and misleading facts. This is and was done by both parties, and it fuels violence. So yes the republican party and the tea-party members are idiots. Yes republican party and the tea-party is the cause for those death! Yes the republican party and the tea-party are attempting to wash there hands clean of this blood shed. These parties needs to be listed and placed on the terrorist watch list by the United States Justice Department.

Wait a minute! Please don't say both parties, one party is more likely. I don't see these "hate" speeches coming from both sides. I agree that this person who committed these crimes is unhinged and obviously have mental problems, however, people like these are often called by something, somebody or an ideology. All we need is some people to say hate and approve hate and gun revenge to lead these people to deadly outcomes. The GOP party has to take responsibility and stop extreme views and violence acceptance. It is too late to start trying to blame the other side.

To those of you who easily blame Americans because they do not have the same beliefs as yours, be it the tea party/Republicans/Democrat is a bias in itself. Hate is a four letter word that does not belong in American culture, yet you rant and rave at Americans whom you know nothing about. I have not read one comment that blames the shooter. How sad. I'm reaching my 80th. year as an American lived through the depression, WWII, served in Korean war, served 25 years in Law enforcement. Never in my live have I seen the the division in my country as I do now. At one time we were a United States, who's citizens were courteous to each other and settled their differences whatever they were in a honorable manner. I certainly don't see that today. I pray for those who were taken from us in such a tragic manner and I also pray for those whose lives are in the hands of God I pray for there complete recovery. To those of you who are so hatefull and biased I'll leave the judgement of your action's to a higher power, God.

The shooter is obviously a mentally ill person, the problem with that is that the media that advocates "hate" speeches may incite a "hate" mood that may in turn give an unhinged person the "reason" (in their minds) to kill. Yes, we can't blame any of the people like Sarah Palin, O'Reilly, Glenn Beck and others for these shootings, however, saying things like "reloading", "Focus on some government people", "the communists are taking over", "terrorists and aliens live in the white house", "antichrists are ruling over America..." and other silly things may be silly to me but so true to the mentally ill. We have to take responsibility on what we say and do and not try to shy away from the truth...

We need at least 2 partys , but what we really need is more education about the state and trend of Goverment. The Republicans have made the top 2% more wealthy while the only tax that affects them is their so called death tax, is has no effect on the general poplation. Are WE headed for a Loard & Serf situation?

"The American government-what is it but a tradition, though a recent one, endeavoring to transmit itself unimpaired to posterity but each instant losing some of its integrity" Untill we come to the Truth; which is; we are all to blame and I mean, us all! For we came to earth with conscience, integrity, morals, and then the shedding began by disbeliefs. We must believe again and in our neighbor, for I fear not, this earth will wait much longer. A united world is not an impossible thing, nor is it to see.

the sad part is: though the tea party memebers are idiots, the conservatives who put themselves above such stupidity, actually support the movement, as a whole.

It appears: Anything which degrades, or attacks a liberal is justified in it's actions, whatever those actions may be.

Tea party is just another mask, it's still Republican. Like the old saying goes you can put lipstick on a Palin it's still a Palin. If you want to be reminded how the Republicans suck the life out of middle America take a look at whats going on in Florida. A billionare Republican sucking the dignity out of the elderly and those on minimum wage taking a pay cut, if he gets his way. Get rid of our governments cancer before there is no middle America left.

If you ask me, based on what I have observed in my lifetime, the middle class died during the reagan administration.

When poverty level is double minimum wage, what we call middle class today, is what we use to call the lower class. what we use to call lower upper or upper middle is now upper lower class or the working class(indentured servitude at it's best)

I couldn't agree with you more. The Republicanan party has removed the middle class of Americans. The class that traditionally was the backbone that neld the country together. Now that they successfully have destroyed that segment of life I guess it falls to the rich to support everyone else, because no one else has money. Rich folks; did your parents ever tell you that if your wish was to have all the money in the world it would make you poor, because no one would have money to buy your goods. Congradualations dummys now other countries are buying us out and they are the new rich, the new leaders of our country.

Totally correct Jeffrey. This economy has been over 30 YEARS in the making, by BOTH sides. This want, to blame 1 prez or the other is so stupid. Or even 1 party or the other. BOTH has their hands in this mess. And to sit and watch them argue which one is more evil, is nonsense. Guess the 'birth' of the T-P (which originally had great ideals) is just an avenue for 'them' to say who's to blame for our lot in life.

And they, or the POTUS can say "cut" all they want, until someone talks getting our jobs back, we're going nowhere ! NO amount of (cough cough) stimulus monies will help, no bail-outs. All a TOTAL waste of money so far.

JOBS people ! NOTHING else is going to matter at all if we don't do something about JOBS !
